Va Voom Bathroom!!

It is Done!! It is DONE! IT IS DONE!!

For almost three years now i have loathed the ground floor bathroom!!! the toilet was the only thing that  wasn't falling apart, and even still it didn't work half the time!! the sink was falling off the wall (ans we discovered during demolition it was only attached with caulk) and the cast iron tub was rusted out so we used it to house the kitty litter box! cleaning this room was the most disappointing chore in the house... i could sterilize and scrub all day long and in the end, it would still look gross!!

It started out as replacing the tub and sink... a month later we have a complete over haul, and i love it!!!
Good bye bathtub... hellooooooo hubbs in work boots <3<3<3

pulled up tile, to discover hardwood... decided hardwood was
non reparable now we are down to subfloor

installed 6 inch platform, and a new tub in a bed of mortar.
wheres it goin? no where! we can pause to notice the tile mortar from the fifties
that was under the tile from the 80's... later this was painstakingly
chiseled off of the plaster walls

new hardwood floor installed by yours truly!! so now we
decided that we should call a professional to sand and stain the
bathroom floor. This had already been researched from years
of wishing... so we call Mr. sandless

The bathroom would have cost almost half of what the whole bottom floor
would have been (since it didn't meet the minimum square feet)
so we did the whole thing

These are before pics of the floor...also i
finished the banquet bench FINALLY (during the bathroom remodel)!!

Middle child playing on new floors, with packaging materials laptop

rough in plumbing installed for bathtub, my husband is like a plumbing genius!!

rough in for my wall mount lavatory!!! you see i was like, "i want it to look like this...." and hubs was like, "okay" and it was made so!! i wish i had a before picture of this cause its not even recognizable now : studder valve installed, shut off valves moved, faucet valve installed drain pipe moved, crazy cast iron pipe cut out in pieces, boy this was a long long looooooong step!!

but it was worth it!! paneling went up, and our new mirror fit like a charm (thanks to the husband) and we installed the modern light fixture (our last one didn't even use light bulbs!!! no joke)

after a days worth of wood filling and caulking and
taping, we were ready to paint

Primed white... looked kinda neat with it all bright white

*******FINNNNIIIIIIISSSSSHHHHED******
that's right PURPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LETS HAVE A CLOSER LOOK SHALL WE

my hand built vanity with vessel sink(separate post to come)

isnt it lovely!

medicine cabinet, young one wanted to help take pictures!

no slam toilet lid, second baby's favorite feature

Our signature window casing, and another look at the
paint colors... i think more trees died from my use of paint
chips for this project alone than from the use of toilet paper in the
last year, i knew i wanted purple but there are so
many shades to choose from

There you have it!!! what we have been spending every last minute of our spare time doing for the last 5 weeks!!! why so long? we don't have that many spare minutes!!

now if only i could decide where to hang the toilet paper roll...

Wishes, but not hopes

So i am sitting here watching star trek, thinking about hair... a common scenario :/  I hopped on the ol' lap top... rather it hopped on my lap (had i actually hopped on said lap top, i would have one broken laptop, and one very angry husband) and looked up head scarfs! BIG MISTAKE. Back in my "locking" days i had a great love of scarfs but had a great lack of money.... now i once again have a great love of head scarfs, but still have a great lack of money ::sigh::

Hard to find a picture of myself!! alas i found one with a
scarf in it.... i think its a cute look, and you cant even tell what
crazy mess lies beneath--see picture below
sweet dreaded awesomness while doing some late night shibori dying

In my recent hair endeavor (to grow my hair out and dread it up again!!!) i have decided that scarves would be a good change of pace from my current pattern of styles... hair down straight, hair up in pony straight, hair curly and up, hair curly and up again, wash and start from day one.... i could add a whole day or two to my wash cycle with a scarf!!!

Its not gross its natural, so shut your mouth. with dreads i can go a lot longer, and so long as i don't sweat every one is happy, and my morning routine is quick and easy!

But i digress, i found this blog and have officially fallen in love with these scarfs!!!!  The shopping site is down for repair at the moment, so i cant see how much i cant afford them, but a girl can dream right!!
